‘Tis the season of giving, and we have gone the extra mile this festive season to make sure that we do our part in spreading Christmas cheer to bring joy to those who may not be as fortunate as ourselves.
Our team of riders and motorsport enthusiasts here at MotoZone enjoy the privilege of riding motorcycles and driving buggy’s on a daily basis – something that is very easily taken for granted. For this reason we’ve come up with an initiative to give back to those in need around the world as best we can – enter our very first charity drive!
MotoZone is simply the spark for this initiative, and we have to give the lion’s share of the credit to our incredible community of riders here in Dubai, who have generously donated and contributed to this project and helped make it a resounding success thus far. We have received nothing short of 85kg’s of riding gear to donate within the span of a couple weeks of us initiating the call for support. Take a look at the final tally below, give or take a few late additions:
14 MX riding jerseys, and 19 MX riding pants
7 pairs of MX boots, and 5 MX helmets
26 pairs of MX gloves, and 6 pairs of socks
4 pairs of knee pads, and 1 pair of elbow pads
5 hydration packs, and 8 MX goggles
3 neck braces, and 1 pair of knee braces
2 chest guards, and 1 kidney belt
It is without a doubt that these items will go a long way in assisting aspiring young riders, from disadvantaged backgrounds, in riding safely in the future. Which brings us to an integral part of this project, our partner in South Africa, the company on the ground that will be assisting in getting all of this gear to the the riders we have identified as both disadvantaged and aspiring.
Live Lesotho‘s catch phrase is “Experience Lesotho like never before. We offer you the freedom to explore the Mountain Kingdom. Learn Lesotho. Love Lesotho. Live Lesotho.” and this encapsulates their passion for the Kingdom of Lesotho. Live Lesotho are the event organisers of the prestigious Roof of Africa hard enduro event which is held in Lesotho every year, attracting some of the world’s most elite enduro riders, including the likes of Graham Jarvis, Wade Young and Chris Birch, to name a few. This event’s history can be traced back to 1967, and has no doubt helped to cultivate a love for motorsport within the country ever since. Today, there is a growing number of local Lesotho based riders who test their metal against the Roof of Africa event – and it is to these riders who we are trying help. Take a look at the video below, and good luck keeping the mist from your eyes:

Live Lesotho will be collaborating with LORA, the Lesotho Off-Road Association, in assisting riders within their development program. From all of us at Motozone, thank you to the Moore family of Live Lesotho for helping us make this all possible!
Another vital aspect of making this project a success is physically getting 85kg’s of riding gear first to the town of Ladybrand in the Free State province of South Africa, and then across the Lesotho border and into the capital of Maseru. This is where the amazing team at Send it UAE have come on board to assist us with shipping. We have to say a massive thank you to Send It for their generosity, and also for their willingness to join in on the fun of producing a quirky Christmas themed video with us – check it out below!
Once again, we have to give it up to the Motozone and greater Dubai riding community for being the example this Christmas, for giving generously, and for helping us spread the love and passion that we all share for dirt-bikes and motorsport in general – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year,
Jarryd
